Thanks for visiting our site and stopping by our About Us page.
If you made it this far into the site you probably already know that it’s about Wing Chun. But, that isn’t all it’s about. Intershape Wing Chun is aimed at helping you improve your Wing Chun by reviewing and recommending only the best training gear. It’s not easy to comb through all of the available options out there, so our goal is to help you narrow down your search and hopefully save you some time and money.
Although Wing Chun is a martial art, it is not unlike other sports and athletics when it comes to enhancing your skill and technique with the assistance of training gear and equipment. Football players use tackling dummies and weight lifting equipment to enhance their performance. Boxers use heavy bags and focus mitts to hone their punching speed, accuracy, and power. In Wing Chun kung fu we have the wooden dummy as well as other gear that we often use.
I know from personal experience that researching, shopping for, and purchasing sport’s equipment can be a long and frustrating process. I learned very quickly that not all training gear is the same. I also learned that expensive does not necessarily equate to a better product. I absolutely hated (and still do) wasting money on an inferior product.
It’s also important to note that the super fancy product with all the bells and whistles which costs triple the price of the next available option may not live up to the hype. Sure, sometimes extra features are well worth the money, but not all of the time, and not if they are just quite simply stated, overpriced. We here at Interchange Wing Chun place a high degree of importance on value.
That isn’t to say that cheapest is always best either. I have had plenty of cheapĀ equipment which I thought was a steal at the time of purchase break or fall apart shortly thereafter. In my opinion, that was actually worse than overpaying for something, because at least the expensive though overpriced product was still usable.
The long and short of this rant is that as previously stated, we treasure value. What is value? Value is getting exactly what you need for the best price available. Value can change from person to person. An individual Wing Chun practitioner may need a much simpler or lower cost Wing Chun dummy than someone looking to establish a small training center. A new student may be looking for the cheapest option available until the decide that they are ready to commit to the life long adventure that learning Wing Chun is.
We here at Intershape Wing Chun hope you find the resources that we have provided useful and interesting. We have done, and will continue to do out best to provide you with the most accurate information possible. We sincerely wish you the best with your training and pursuit of excellence.
Thank again for stopping by!
